Who is Jimmy Bragg?

Jimmy spent most of his life in Newfoundland - the eastern-most province of Canada. He grew up in the province’s capital city of St. John’s. In the early 1990s, he became very interested in the Traditional Irish music that was performed in many of the city’s downtown pubs. It seemed to stir up a passion that has been growing ever since.

It was quite often you would find Jimmy singing an a-cappella song on stage with the band. And every St. Paddy’s Day, he would always secure a spot on stage at the local Knights of Columbus for a 3 or 4 song set. As the years went by, and the shows became more frequent, he would soon be securing gigs in the pubs of St. John’s where the people have grown accustomed to hearing quality Traditional Irish folk musicians play… and he did not disappoint.

Now living in St. Johns County, in Florida, Jimmy managed to retire early and decided to pursue his life-long #1 passion full time. He still prefers to play “Trad” music and has become known for doing it well. Many of his sea-shanties have caused spontaneous foot-stomping and bottle-tapping, spilled drinks, and silverware finding the floor.

So if you fancy yourself a lover of the Traditional, Folk, and Irish music, make your way to one of the many traditional venues he plays, sit back, and take it all in!

“The music is always greater than the musician. If you respect it, it will take you to places you never imagined even existed! It will take you to heights you never thought possible… And it will introduce you to people you feel you’ve known your whole life!”
